The Black And White Animals That "Moo" Are Not Deer
I knew I would have to explain the statement in the previous post.
I grew up in rural Maryland. Even though we did not have a farm, my Dad's friend from high school had one. So in return for a garden plot in the summer, half a hog in the winter, boarding our fox hounds, and hunting, we used to help strip tobacco, pick corn, slaughter pigs, and feed and groom the horses (my favorite).
One year, my Dad's friend allowed some folks to deer hunt on his property. They shot one of his Holstein cows. You know, the big black and white ones Chick-Fil-A uses in their ads. Yes, it's true, the idiots shot one of the dairy cows because they thought it was a deer.

School's out - it must be deer season
You have to love a place where the schools are officially closed for the opening day of deer season (today).
Is everyone wearing their regulation Penn DOT orange (same as Bob's Barricade orange in Florida) jacket and hat? Remember, those big black and white animals that "moo" are not deer.
Happy hunting!

The Four-Letter S Word
Upon awakening this morning, I peered through the bedroom window, into the gray beyond. My sleepy eyes could not believe they saw the four-letter S word on the ground and falling from the sky. My only response was the other four-letter S word.
It started snowing yesterday afternoon, around 2 p.m. This is the first snow we've had this season - several weeks later than normal. The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a colder, snowier winter than last year.

An Open Letter to Port Authority Bus Drivers
With the ATU board clearing the way for a strike vote on November 20, I have four questions for you.
1. Why shouldn't you pay for health insurance premiums? Many of the people who utilize the services of PAT, if they are lucky enough to receive health insurance from their employers, are required to pay either part or all of the premiums. Employees contributing to health insurance premiums is a fact of life in the real world.
2. Why shouldn't you pay for health insurance premiums? Your average salary is rumored to be the second highest in this country behind Los Angeles bus drivers. The average of approximately $47,000, as reported in the PP-G, is probably higher than the average salary of many of your riders.
3. Why shouldn't you pay for health insurance premiums? Sorry, couldn't hear your answer. Please speak up. Cat got your tongue? Entitlement is NOT a valid reason for this demand.
4. Why shouldn't you pay for health insurance premiums? Can't find a valid reason? No, the reason you haven't answered is obvious. You do not have a good reason for this demand.
